Object & Test Engineer

Location: Lund/Gothenburg
Job Type: Full-Time
Application Deadline: 2025-03-25

About the role

At Terranet, we are developing next-generation technology to make urban traffic safer. We are now looking for an experienced and passionate Object & Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will take ownership of testing and validation for our cutting-edge automotive anti-collision sensor. This role involves overseeing both lab-based and vehicle-based testing, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of our sensor system in real-world conditions. You will be responsible for maintaining test environments, managing test objects, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve validation goals.

Our sensor combines laser scanning, event cameras, and advanced vision software to generate real-time 4D images. This requires a comprehensive test environment and test setup to ensure high system performance with high accuracy and fast detection. This role requires occasional travel to customer sites and vehicle test tracks for testing.

In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team, which includes both software and hardware specialists. You’ll be part of a collaborative and open-minded team where we tackle challenges together, and every idea and contribution counts.

Role and responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain test equipment, lab infrastructure, and test objects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute lab and field testing of our sensor in our lab and on vehicle.
  • Ensure proper calibration, setup, and functionality of test systems.
  • Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and protocols for validating performance in controlled and real-world environments.
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of sensor behavior.
  • Collaborate with test engineers, validation teams, hardware and software developers to ensure seamless testing operations.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues encountered during testing and provide feedback to development teams.
  • Maintain documentation of test procedures, results, and modifications for traceability and continuous improvement.

About you

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in designing and developing test setups and test evaluation environments.
  • 3+ years of experience in lab management, automotive testing, or validation of sensor systems.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle sensor technology and automotive testing methods.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle instrumentation, sensor calibration, and test object management.
  • Familiarity with testing tools, automation frameworks, and data analysis software (Python, MATLAB, CANoe, etc.).
  • Experience in environmental and durability testing for automotive sensors.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
