New board member, elected in 2026

We welcome Torsten Bernström to Terranet’s Board of Directors. Throughout his career, one thing has remained the same: combining technological innovation with real-world value. In this interview, he shares what has shaped his career, what attracted him to Terranet and the perspectives he brings to the Board.

Our shareholders are curious about you. You have extensive experience in defence, security and business development – what has driven you throughout your career?
Curiosity about technology and innovation has been a common thread throughout my career. What has always interested me most is how new ideas can be turned into something that creates real value. Over the years, I have been drawn to roles where technology, business development and societal benefit come together.

Security-related issues have also been a natural part of my journey, largely thanks to my background as a reserve officer. I am fascinated by how different parts of society, from industry and infrastructure to defence and public services, need to work together to create robust and sustainable solutions.

Looking back, I can see a clear logic in the choices I have made, even though my career was never planned in detail. I believe most careers are shaped by a combination of drive, curiosity and the opportunities that appear along the way.

What made you join Terranet’s Board of Directors?
Terranet has a unique technology, a committed team and great opportunities ahead. It reminds me a little of a young bird that is just about to leave the nest. The technology is there, the potential is there, and now it is about taking the next step and finding its place in a larger ecosystem.

That is what attracted me. I hope to contribute experience and perspectives from other industries while also being part of the company’s continued development. I strongly believe that learning goes both ways, and I look forward to both contributing and growing together with Terranet.

What experience and perspectives do you bring to the Board?
I bring a broad perspective from defence, security, IT and business development. For many years, I have worked in organisations where success rarely depends on a single product or technology, but rather on how different stakeholders, systems and competencies work together. I believe that perspective can be valuable to Terranet.

BlincVision has great
potential and is now
finding its place
in a larger context.

I hope to contribute experience on how innovative solutions can create value in larger industrial ecosystems and within areas such as defence, security and societal preparedness.

Which trends do you think will be most important for Terranet in the years ahead?
One clear trend is that the boundaries between civilian and military applications are becoming increasingly blurred. Technologies developed for civilian use can often create value in defence and security applications, and vice versa. This growing focus on dual-use technologies is creating new opportunities for innovative companies.

At the same time, we see a growing focus on security and preparedness across society. This creates new demands for technologies and solutions that can contribute to safer and more reliable systems.

For companies like Terranet, it is therefore not only about a specific market or industry, but about understanding where the technology can create the greatest value and deliver long-term impact.

Which values do you consider important in a company and on a board?
For me, trust and openness are fundamental values, both in a company and on a board. The best decisions are made when people are willing to share ideas, challenge each other’s perspectives and engage in open dialogue.

I also believe in supportive leadership, where people are given responsibility and opportunities to grow, while sharing a common commitment to helping each other succeed. That creates both stronger collaboration and better results.

Another important quality is the ability to keep learning and developing. The world is changing rapidly, and organisations that remain curious, adaptable and open to new perspectives are often better equipped to meet future challenges.

If you were to describe yourself in three words, which would you choose?
Businessman, Gentleman and Officer. Businessman reflects my background in business development and my interest in developing organisations and creating value through new technology.

Gentleman is about being a good husband, a good father and a good friend, and about being there for people when they need support or help.

Officer reflects the part of me shaped by my years as a reserve officer. Leadership, responsibility and structure are values that have stayed with me throughout my professional life.

What gives you energy?
Family has always been important to me, and for many years much of my time outside work has revolved around family life. Whenever I have the opportunity, I enjoy travelling, discovering new cultures and meeting people with perspectives different from my own.

I also appreciate the simple pleasure of gathering family and friends around a table for good food and good conversation. It is often in those moments that new ideas are born and where I find much of my energy.
