Meet board member Uwe Brandenburg

Sep 24, 2025

Member of the Board of Directors, appointed in May 2025

Tell us briefly about your background.
For the past 14 years, I have specialized in the development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technologies. Proven expertise in developing complete solutions from concept to start of production together with leading global OEMs. My background spans more than 30 years of leadership in the automotive, telecommunications, and semiconductor sectors, where I held senior positions at TRW, Autoliv, Continental, and Valeo. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering.

What made you say yes to joining Terranet’s board of directors?
For me, working in ADAS and autonomous driving is first and foremost about saving lives with technology. I am convinced that Terranet’s approach can prevent accidents in situations where today’s systems fall short. At the same time, there is also a personal motivation: thinking about the future of mobility as we grow older, when the freedom to call a self-driving car for safe and reliable transport becomes essential. Terranet’s unique technology and clear sense of purpose make me confident this vision can become reality.

What experiences or perspectives do you bring to the board?
Extensive expertise in ADAS and autonomous driving, with a proven track record of taking projects from concept to production together with leading OEMs such as Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, and VW. This combination of technical depth and hands-on experience in safety-critical systems will be valuable in transitioning BlincVision from concept to final product.

What do you find particularly exciting about the company’s technology/offering?
Terranet’s technology stands out because it combines a clear purpose of saving lives through innovation with the ability to close a critical gap left by today’s sensor systems. From years of working with autonomous driving in urban environments, I have seen how difficult it is to meet all safety requirements with the sensors available on the market. Terranet’s solution offers the technical completeness and precision needed to make city driving both safer and more reliable.

What market trends do you see as most relevant for the company?
Several market trends are particularly relevant for Terranet. First, urban mobility and safety: as cities grow and traffic becomes more complex, the demand for technologies that can handle unpredictable environments is rising fast. This is exactly where Terranet’s BlincVision has unique potential.

Another important trend is the move toward higher levels of autonomous driving. Automakers need faster, more precise awareness of their surroundings, and Terranet’s approach complements existing sensor systems by closing critical gaps in reaction time and safety.

I also see opportunities beyond automotive. Collision avoidance is equally vital in sectors like mining and heavy machinery, where competition is less intense. Combined with strong partnerships and rising regulatory focus on safety and sustainability, these trends position Terranet well for the future.

In your opinion, what is the most important success factor for a growth company like Terranet?
For a growth company like Terranet, the key lies in scaling innovation with a clear purpose. Breakthrough technology is not enough on its own, it must be transformed from a concept into a real product that works reliably in the field. That requires more than technical expertise; it takes strong people, teamwork, and the right culture. What I’ve seen at Terranet is exactly that: a capable team with deep industry know-how and a collaborative spirit. This combination gives me confidence in the company’s ability to succeed.

What values do you believe are important in a company and a board?
The most important values are trust, transparency, and accountability. I believe in a supportive leadership style—empowering people with ownership and clarity while being there when needed. A culture where ideas can be challenged openly makes collaboration meaningful.

Equally important is agility: the ability to adapt, learn, and evolve in a fast-changing world. The best boards are those that continuously learn, evolve, and stay ahead of change—while remaining grounded in the company’s mission and values.

Stay curious, stay humble,
and keep stretching your
limits every day.

What advice have you carried with you throughout your career?
“Stay curious, stay humble, and keep stretching your limits every day.” In fast-moving industries, you can’t rely on past success; real progress comes from learning continuously and being open to new perspectives. For me, it’s about pushing boundaries a little further each day, even if it sometimes means taking a step back before moving forward.

Another guiding principle has been to focus on impact, not ego. The most effective leaders are those who build trust, elevate others, and stay grounded in purpose. That mindset is also what drives me at Terranet, contributing my experience to support the team and help fulfil the company’s mission.

How do you view the company’s role in society or the industry?
I believe a company’s role goes beyond delivering products. It should be guided by a clear purpose and act responsibly. For Terranet, that purpose is clear: improving traffic safety through technology that can save lives and has the potential to set new standards in urban mobility.

In the broader industry, companies like Terranet can also help shape the way we think about sustainability, accessibility, and human-centered design. By taking that approach, a company can serve as a role model and inspire positive change across the industry and in society.

What gives you energy – at work or outside of it?
The opportunity to learn, build, and connect. Professionally, I’m energized by solving complex challenges, especially when it involves new technology and collaboration across diverse teams. Seeing an idea grow from concept into something that matters is incredibly rewarding.

I’ve never really had a comfort zone. While I understand that others may value it, for me it feels limiting. I gain energy from adapting quickly, stretching my limits, and embracing change. Challenges don’t drain me—they motivate me. What matters is not avoiding setbacks, but how you respond to them.

Outside of work, I recharge in nature, through meaningful conversations, and by staying curious. Exploring new places, following new trends, or spending time with people who challenge my thinking all broaden my perspective and keep me energized.
