3D scanning lets VoxelFlow detect all objects and motion patterns in real time, regardless if it’s day or night, in blinding light or a snowstorm.
With a laser scanner and three sensors around the vehicle, VoxelFlow reacts to objects and movement lightning-fast and with close-to-zero delay.
SLAM algorithms give VoxelFlow an extremely precise positioning, with simultaneous localisation and tracking in ultra high resolution and at voxel speed.
How it works
Three sensor cameras and a laser scanner are mounted on the vehicle. The laser continuously scans the area around the car, in ultra high resolution and at lightning-fast voxel speed. The cameras follow the point of the laser beam and detect objects within a 40 metres radius with close-to-zero delay (microseconds). The vehicle reacts and acts within three milliseconds, which can be compared to the 300 millisecond reactivity of traditional ADAS technology. If the vehicle is travelling at 70 km/h, it reacts in 6 centimetres. With traditional ADAS technology, you would travel an additional 5,94 metres. And if you had been driving yourself, you would have come another 13 metres before you were able to react and hit the brakes. And that might not always be the best solution. Sometimes it is better to slow down and turn to the side – the correct side. This is also handled by VoxelFlow.
